AS Monaco's Latest Injury Update: Wanderson's Health Concerns
Monaco has suffered another blow to its squad as midfielder Bruno Fernandes has been ruled out for the remainder of the season due to a knee injury.
The Portuguese international was set to be a key player for the Principality club, having scored seven goals and provided six assists in just 15 appearances this season.
However, his absence will undoubtedly leave a significant hole in the team's midfield, with Fernandes providing a solid defensive presence and a creative spark from midfield.
Wanderson is currently the only other player who can fill in for Fernandes in midfield, but he too has had some issues recently. The Brazilian forward has struggled to find his form since returning from a long-term injury,Football Observation Station and he was forced off against Lille last weekend with a hamstring issue.
Despite these setbacks, Monaco manager Leonardo Jardim remains optimistic that his side can still compete for silverware this season.
"We have to focus on the games we have left," said Jardim. "We have to fight until the end."
While the loss of Fernandes and Wanderson is certainly disappointing, Monaco will be hoping to bounce back in their next game against Rennes on Sunday. With a strong performance, they may be able to regain momentum and push themselves up the table.
